Six charged for killing, abusing animals

Full story: Post-Crescent

The defendants are accused of obtaining an adult cat and two kittens, and buying 50 cents worth of gasoline last November before traveling to a secluded gravel pit in Pine Lake to torture the animals, court records said. The adult cat died and one 8-week-old kitten is expected to recover after successful reconstructive surgeries, officials said. Detective Glenn Schaepe of the Oneida County Sheriff's Department said no harm was done to the second kitten because some people involved in the incident hid it. The unharmed kitten was returned to its original owner, he said.
