Black first met her future husband when she was 11 and they started having sex when she was 14, according to testimony at the sentencing hearing. They married when she was 16 and separated when she was 21, but the custody of their son became a sticking point. With a knife in her waistband, Black went to Willie Black's house on Lady's Island on Oct. 17, 2001, to discuss custody of their son, reportedly telling her best friend she was going to kill him, Knight said at the hearing.
